It's starting already...

Tyler did the funniest thing after dinner this evening!

We were finished with supper, and Mike and I were cleaning up the kitchen. The boys were left at the table sitting next to eachother (always a dangerous position for them to be in!) and they were talking to and playing together (laughing, tickling, etc.) I thought it was great to see, and so I stopped what I was doing just to watch them for a few seconds.

What happened next was hilarious! Tyler leaned in close to Nathan, and said, "Nathan, hit me." So Nathan did just as his brother asked. Tyler then turned around, looked at me from across the room, and said, "Mommy, Nathan just hit me!"

I had to try so hard to hold my laughter in as I explained to Tyler that Nathan hit him because he ASKED him to, and that I couldn't punish Nathan for that. But I couldn't contain myself when I had to explain it to Mike, who although he was standing next to me had not heard what just happened. KIDS!!!

Ahhh, it brought me back to another place and time. Nearly 20 years ago. I, too, have a younger brother, and we used to play that game all the time. Only I, as the OLDER sibling, was always the one in trouble, thanks to Matt the Manipulator. I called Matt after it happened and relayed the story. I blame him for tonight's incident. Who KNOWS what kind of ideas he's been filling Tyler's little head with! :-)

A budding photographer??

Tyler got a special birthday present this year from his Uncle Matt and "Aunt" Justine... a digital camera. Yes, Fisher Price makes a digital camera that works just like a real one. Actually, it IS a real one, that can do all of the basic things that the others do. And he LOVES it!! Here's a few of his best masterpieces...

Some pictures of his little brother...

... And then he learned how to take pictures of himself! What a ham!!

Trick Or Treat!!

Okay, here it is. My first post. I've had this set up for a few months now and hadn't added anything to it. It hit me more than two weeks ago on Tyler's 3rd birthday: WOW. I have a three-year-old. AND a 19-month-old. It seems like just yesterday...
I want to use this as a way to not only keep family and friends up-to-date on what's going on with the boys, but also as a way for ME to remember. Certainly I'll always remember the big things that happen. But it's the small things, the things that I remember now but that may fade from my memory in a few months or more, that I want to hold on to forever. Because as it hit me again on October 14th, my babies are growing up, and with every day, they are hardly babies anymore. So here we go...

The Boys with their Halloween presents from Grandma and Grandpa Anderson

Getting ready for trick-or-treating!

We all had a great time this Halloween. The festivities began for us on October 23rd, when we went to the MOMS Club Halloween Party. The boys had fun dressing up in their costumes (Nathan as Superman and Tyler as Bob The Builder) and playing with their friends.

October 28th was the Halloween Parade and extravaganza at MVP Sports Club (the gym here in town that we go to). They had all kinds of fun things for the kids to do - including a parade through the gym, candy from the staff, and lots of fun games. I think both were intimidated by the number of kids there - there had to be well over 100 kids!

Then, of course, Halloween itself. What a beautiful day - sunny and 65 degrees! The kids got all dressed up, and we went into town to do a little trick-or-treating. We even stopped by the fire station where the boys got to see a big firetruck and some firefighters (including our neighbors.) Tyler was very polite, saying "Trick Or Treat!" every time we went to someone's door, followed by a "thank you" after he got some candy. And little brother Nathan even got into the spirit, saying "Teet Teet" at everyone's door. After a little bit of trick-or-treating, we had supper at McDonalds, and ended the day with a little bit of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," one of mommy's favorite classics! Both kids had a great day. And mom and dad had lots of fun too!
